You may have recently received an email from the Environment Agency / SEPA updating you on a planned change to the Packaging Regulations requirement for a Director of your Company to sign off the Annual Packaging Weights Submission / Declaration. If you have no issues with a Director Signing the Packaging Weights Submission Declaration then no action is required.
Currently the Annual Packaging Weights Declaration Legally requires a Director of the Company to sign off the Data as being ‘as accurate as reasonably possible’. As you may know this sometime proves to be difficult each year for a variety of reasons, so the Environment Agency, as part of the Red Tape Challenge, have given Directors the OPTION to Delegate this Responsibility to an appropriate person within an Organisation.
We have attached the required form which should be completed and sent, IF you would like to take this option, to packaging@environment-agency.gov.uk in England and producer.responsibility@sepa.org.uk in Scotland.
No action is required if the Company Director is happy to continue signing the Declaration at the end of the form each year. This decision can be changed or updated at any time.
If you choose to complete the form and require clarification of any of your details, including your National Packaging Waste Database Code please drop me an email and we will come back to you. If you could also send a copy of the completed from for our records it would be appreciated.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
