Packaging Recycling Targets to 2017 – 2020 Confirmed today- UK Government Announce Ambitious Targets
2020 UK Packaging Recycling Targets have been set in todays Spring Budget – 08/02/2017

Phillip Hammond, the Chancellor, today announced as part of his Spring 2017 Budget, increased Statutory Packaging Recycling Targets from 2017 to 2020. The targets are set to ensure UK Business compliance with the UK’s Packaging Directive.
A welcome announcement offering certainty, whilst offering challenges ahead for UK Business, to keep the steady growth and momentum of packaging recycling. Glass and Plastic targets have already been announced last year. See table below, which are subject to final confirmation from DEFRA.
The stand out target increase is Wood, which will place a different dynamic into the PRN market from next year onwards. All other materials look challenging but fair and will encourage the steady growth in Packaging Recycling in the UK.
Further analysis will appear here on confirmation from DEFRA.
